Sacred Khayer Lake
Khayer Lake, also known as the Khayer Barahi Lake is a sacred and isolated high-altitude lake situated at an elevation of 4,600 above sea level. Reaching Khayer Lake from Khopra Danda includes a challenging 3-4 hours of hike. The lake is considered sacred by the local Gurung and Magar Communities as well as Hindu and Buddhist followers. Every year, devotees from around Nepal visit this lake on the auspicious occasion of Janai Purnima and perform rituals believing that it brings blessings and good fortune.
Best Time for Khopra Danda Trek
Khopra Danda Trek can be done in all seasons, making it an ideal year-round destination. However, as Spring (March-May) and Autumn (Sep-Nov) are the peak trekking seasons in Nepal, these months offer the best weather, and trail conditions with clear uninterrupted views of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Massifs.
The trails come alive with rhododendron flowers adding a vibrant color to the landscape with mild and comfortable temperatures during Spring. Whereas, Autumn on the other hand offers crystal clear skies with cool and crisp air giving stunning visibility to the landscapes. Khopra Ridge Trek can be chill but can still be possible during Winter (Dec-Feb). Snow may cover and can lead to slippery trails, so don't forget to carry crampons. Then again, Monsoon (June-Aug) brings frequent rain making the trails wet and slippery with occasional visibility.The monsoon also brings green scenery, fresh landscapes, and fewer crowds.
