The trails look more attractive with blooming rhododendrons and alpine flowers during Spring, whereas the autumn serves crisp air and undisturbed mountain views.

Dolpo, being in the Trans-Himalayan Rain Shadow, experiences comparatively less rainfall than most regions in Nepal. However, the trails can still be slippery with occasional landslides. Winter on the other hand brings freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall, making it difficult for trekkers to reach higher altitudes..

Difficulty Level of Phoksundo Lake Trek

The Phoksundo Lake Trek is classified as a moderate trek, suitable for trekkers with a decent physical fitness level. The trail involves gradual ascents and descents with some steep and few rocky sections, particularly near Ringmo Village and around the ridge to reach Phoksundo Lake.

The Phoksundo Trek typically reaches an altitude of 3,611 meters at Phoksundo Lake where the risk of High-Altitude Sickness is relatively low comparatively to higher altitude treks. However, proper acclimatization and hydration are essential for a safe and comfortable experience.
